Step 1 – Compare Electricity Prices To start your comparison, follow these steps:

  1. Have a recent electricity bill on hand.
  2. Head to our electricity comparison page and enter your ZIP Code in Irving: 75014, 75015, 75016, 75017, 75038, 75039, 75060, 75061, 75062, 75063, or 75368.

Once on the comparison page, here’s what to expect:

  1. Determine Your Average Monthly Usage:
    • Select whether you use an average of 500, 1000, or 2000 kWh based on your home size.
    • If you have your past 12 months’ usage history, you can enter each month’s value by selecting ‘Enter Usage History’ in the far left menu on the screen. The system will automatically calculate your average monthly usage based on your actual data.
  2. Choose the Type of Plan:
    • Select whether you’re looking for fixed-rate, variable-rate, prepaid, or renewable energy.
    • Choose between 1 and 36-month terms, or select ‘Show All’ for a comprehensive comparison.
  3. Compare Prices:
    • As you change each filter selection, Honest Gorilla will revise the results shown to you. If you’re browsing on a mobile device, be sure to click ‘Save Changes’ each time you change any of the filters.
    • Review the list of available deals based on the information you provided and discover potential savings.
    • All results are presented in order of price, from low to high.

When you select a plan, Honest Gorilla will calculate and graph the results, allowing you to see an estimate of how much you can expect to pay each month for energy charges (not including taxes and fees).

    • Once it is determined that your address is serviceable, you will receive your ESIID.
    • Specify whether your billing address is the same as your service address or different.
  2. Determine your service connection type:
    • Depending on whether you are an existing resident or moving to a new home in Irving, specify if you would like to request switching providers or new services.
    • If you have a specific date you’d like to have your service turned on or switched, you can choose the day.
  3. Enter Personal Information:
    • Fill in your name, contact information, personal identification information, and other necessary details.
    • A soft credit check will be run on all applicants, and you may be required to pay an interest-bearing security deposit if eligible.

Step 3 – If You Change Your Mind

If you change your mind within three (3) days of submitting your enrollment, don’t worry. You can cancel free of charge during this cooling-off period.

Keep in mind that if you decide to cancel after this timeframe or switch while still in contract with your existing provider, you may be subject to an early termination fee. This can be a flat monthly fee (around $15 – $20) per month remaining on your contract or $200 – $400 based on your contract type.
